HONEYSUCKLES (LONICERA)

Honeysuckle is probably one of the best known and best loved climbing plants, that include both deciduous and evergreen species. The flowers are tubular, generally white, yellow or reddish purple in colour and often scented.

They are ideal for growing against walls, trellis, fences, pergolas or over other shrubs and trees. A very useful climber for hiding an unsightly wall or fence. Most soil types are suitable for growing honeysuckles but it should preferably be well-drained. The plant will grow either in direct sunlight or partial shade but the roots like to be shaded.

Pruning need only be done occasionally to remove old wood after flowering and to keep to the desired shape and size. Frost hardy.
